This year, National Adoption Month will focus on teen adoption and engaging youth in permanency planning. The theme for the 2021 initiative, “Every Conversation Matters,” recognizes that authentic youth engagement depends on building solid relationships, which can begin with a single conversation.
The 90-minute webinar provides child welfare professionals with tips to incorporate youth engagement in daily practice.
During the webinar, professionals and young people who have experienced care:
- Share how youth engagement is essential to achieving permanency for teens
- Discuss how to authentically listen to and engage young people
- Describe how to incorporate youth voice into practice
- Provide information about resources and materials available from Child Welfare Information Gateway, AdoptUSKids, and Children’s Bureau grantees.
